Producer: The world-renowned Chocolate Block has been vinified since 2003 and has enjoyed increasing popularity ever since. The Chocolate Block is the parade trend wine of Marc Kent, the jack-of-all-trades of Boekenhoutskloof. The Boekenhoutskloof (Beechwood Slope/Gorge) winery is located in Franschhoek, and is one of the oldest wineries with Huguenot roots. Winemaker Mark Kent was considered a prodigy early on, so it's no surprise that his 2001 Sémillon was selected as the Best New World White by the prestigious English wine magazine Decanter in October 2003. The current status of his work shows impressively that the first predictions were not wrong! With the trend wine ""The Chocolate Block"" Boekenhoutskloof has set standards for South Africa. The Chocolate Block repeatedly underlines the Rhône claim of Boekenhoutskloof with the "Chateau Neuf du Cap" blend, which since the 2015 vintage comes entirely from the Swartland.

Tasting notes: Aromatic concentration, chocolate notes, very spicy, fruity, warm, creamy. Well structured with medium body. In the wine there are flavors of plum, black fruit, mixed with violet aromas. Elegant and mouth-filling, long-lasting, with good evolution potential, ripe tannins and long-lasting finish.
